About JBL Animal Care
Certified dog behaviour specialist in Cape Town – science-based, compassionate and tailored to your dog.
Hi, I'm Justin – a certified dog behaviour specialist in Cape Town
I am a certified dog behaviour specialist based in Cape Town, dedicated to helping owners better understand their dogs and build lasting, positive relationships.
My journey began in the United States, where I gained hands-on experience working with a wide range of animals on an alpaca ranch, assisting with animal care, rehabilitation and neonatal feeding. This early exposure, combined with guidance from veterinary professionals, laid the foundation for my career in animal behaviour.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Allied Health (Physical Therapy) with a minor in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and have completed specialised training in canine anatomy, behaviour and training through internationally recognised programmes. In 2022, I qualified as a COAPE Animal Behaviour Practitioner – a qualification recognised for its rigorous, science-based curriculum.
Today, I combine my academic background, practical experience and passion for animals to assess and address behavioural challenges using modern, science-based methods. Every programme I design is tailored to the individual dog and owner, with a focus on achieving realistic, long-term results.
Common Behavioural Issues I Help With

Towards people, other dogs or resource guarding – addressed safely and effectively.
🦮 Pulling on the lead

🗣️ Excessive barking
Identifying the root cause and reducing nuisance barking.
